African Bank Partnership

Partner with CapaCiTi 1

CapaCiTi is proud to have collaborated with African Bank to build and nurture digital talent.

The partnership saw African Bank as an employer benefitting from CapaCiTi’s digital offering by nurturing data science interns through a skills development programme aligned with their internal competencies and working on real life African Bank data projects. The 12 month co-designed programme resulted in a 96% placement absorption at the end of the year and a significant lower cost per recruit when compared with an open market.

“It was important to find a partner that understood what we required, who understood where we wanted to go with data, and more importantly who could help find, guide, nurture us and the young people we wanted to bring into African Bank,” said Lindiwe Miyambu, the Group Executive for Human Capital at African bank.

Centrax Partnership

Partner with CapaCiTi 2

We have also partnered with Centrax Systems to provide candidates with meaningful work experience.

The collaboration began in November 2019 when CapaCiTi welcomed over 100 candidates onto their Johannesburg Campus as part of a Youth Employment Service (YES) programme to upskill unemployed youth from an underprivileged background. This year-long program provided the enrolled youth with both technical training and meaningful workplace experience in the internship phase of the their program.

In a phased approach during July 2020, 105 CapaCiTi trained candidates started their internships with Centrax Systems.

As a business that is highly passionate about youth development and solving the youth unemployment crisis, Centrax’s partnership with CapaCiTi was an ideal match. Centrax provided CapaCiTi graduates with internships in roles that ranged across customer service support and marketing, through service desk support, app integration, app migration and app development.

Lele Msimango, the Chief Operating Officer at Centrax Systems, shared how the weeks since the first onboarding have been great. “These interns are a breath of fresh air, thank you for this! We are really enjoying the energy that the interns bring to Centrax and we are already earmarking a few for absorption into the company post-November or sooner.”

Today, Centrax has already committed to absorb 63% of the candidates into their workforce and is still considering the remaining candidates. Roles offered range across the organization with a significant number being absorbed into the DevOps department which is a testament to the strength of the technical training received from CapaCiTi.

“Well it’s been an amazing journey for me,” shared CapaCiTi graduate Tsakane Nokuthula Tembe. “I have been struggling with getting training and here I am doing my practical in Financial Management and hopefully by the end of this experience I will obtain my National Diploma. Other than that I have been exposed to awesome Zoho Applications which are web-based applications containing word processing , presentations ,database and many more. I have done presentations on Zoho books ,Zoho inventory ,Zoho CRM and Zoho Analytics. The work environment is good, everyone is cooperative and also with the managers we can easily communicate with them.”

Fellow CapaCiTi graduate Keletso Lelikila Mpahane is grateful to be part of the Centrax team.

“Right from day one at Centrax Systems, I got to learn, explore and advance my skills, knowledge and experience in IT. The past 3 months to date have been a blessing, I have been part of big projects and have led a few thus far. I am working with a wonderful, competitive team and the best boss ever who values my hard work and trusted me with responsibilities and challenges. I am grateful to be part this brilliant team and keen to cover many more years.”
