The UVU Bio Bioeconomy Skills Centre Launch

On 22 May 2024, UVU Bio proudly opened the doors to their new, state-of-the-art Bioeconomy Skills Centre in Woodstock, Cape Town. The facility will be home to our Skills Development initiatives with an upcoming new cohort scheduled to begin in June. The Introduction to Biotechnology and Bioprocessing cohort will prioritise vaccine manufacturing skills to enhance Africa’s capabilities in this vital area and has been designed to empower matric holders with an interest and aptitude in science to start in the industry.

“With two successful bioprocessing cohorts already trained, encompassing over 80 individuals, this centre represents a natural progression of our efforts to scale our capacity-building initiatives,” said Dheepak Maharajh, CEO of UVU Bio.
