Think of UVU Africa’s event space not just as a blank canvas, but as a stage within an innovation hub. Here in Woodstock, Cape Town, you’re surrounded by pioneering entrepreneurs, researchers in our open-access lab, and the energy of collaboration. As convenors, we bring these communities together, so your event sits at the intersection of creativity, innovation, and connection.
And beyond our walls, the venue sits within Brickfield Canvas. This broader precinct gathers artists, innovators, and changemakers, adding an extra layer of vibrancy and inspiration to every event.

Your Event, Your Vision
Over the years, this versatile space has hosted a wide range of events from engaging panels, thought-provoking fireside chats, intimate book launches, creative workshops, graduations, hackathons, awards ceremonies, celebrations, formal conferences and more.
Each event had its own personality because the beauty of the space lies in its ability to adapt seamlessly. With an open-plan design, flexible furniture, and a balcony that extends the experience outdoors, there are plenty of setting up options that organisers can choose from.
We have seen the venue becomes what organisers need it to be; whether that’s theatre-style rows, café-style networking setups, or breakout clusters for collaboration.

Versatility of the Venue

Our venue has welcomed many hackathons over the years, yet one 48-hour challenge captured the spirit of innovation best and the space remained alive throughout the event. Participants worked tirelessly through the night, fuelled by endless cups of coffee and the energy of collaboration. Meeting rooms became private strategy zones, the balcony turned into a think-tank under the stars, and the support team was there round the clock.
Hosting the hackathon showcased how far the space can stretch to support formal presentations, moments of rest, collaboration, and pure creativity.
For more intimate gatherings, the layout shifts again. Couches and small tables create a welcoming environment for conversation, perfect for networking or small-group discussions. When a larger, more formal atmosphere is needed, the space expands to accommodate rows of seating, and even breakout areas for side sessions.
The venue also comes fully equipped with the essentials to make hosting seamless. Organisers have access to handheld microphones, large smart TVs for presentations (with HDMI and Type-C connectivity), and PA systems to ensure crystal-clear sound.
Flexible seating is available with both round and rectangular tables, along with all the kitchen basics such as plates, glasses, and utensils for serving guests. The in-house coffee machine is also available on request to keep the energy flowing.
If the event calls for something extra, our network of trusted suppliers can step in with specialist AV or catering services to round out the experience.
