Young people in tech: Sivuyile Mdlokovi

When Sivuyile Mdlokovi fell in love with IT, little did he know that his life would change forever.

The CapaCiTi graduate grew up in Delft, a township on the outskirts of Cape Town.

“I live in Delft, one of the most notorious places in the Western Cape. Living here is not easy, there is too much peer pressure from gangsterism to drugs. You need to be a goal-setter and stay focused on your dreams,” he shares with us.

Instead of succumbing to the pressures around him, Sivuyile kept his head down and focused on his studies.

It was this dedication and focus that led him to chase a career in IT.

His journey began at CapaCiTi where he studied a six-month course in  PC Technician and ICT Infrastructure.

“I am a go-getter, always passionate about what I’m doing. I fell in love with IT and believed this is a career that can always wake me up with a smile.”

After graduating from CapaCiTi, Sivuyile was placed at BCX to complete his in-company training.  He’s currently working as a Service Representative.

“I provide services for corporate or businesses and government. “

Working at BCX has been a phenomenal experience for Sivuyile, he shares.

“I’m very passionate about my work. I’m gaining a lot of work experience, and learning how to deal with different individuals and work pressures.”

Motivated by his goals and his son, Musa, Sivuyile adds that it’s been heartwarming to receive positive feedback on the work he’s done.

“Every day has a challenge that builds you as a person.”
