The Launch Of Africa's First Open Access Biotech Lab

UVU Bio was launched in 2019 to bridge a critical gap in the continent’s growing bioeconomy. Originating from UVU Africa’s Biotech cluster, it was established to identify and stimulate high-growth industries of the future and, it began as a niche incubator for biotech startups and has since evolved into a leading innovation hub. Today, UVU Bio offers Africa’s first open-access biotech lab alongside skills development programmes, research support, and entrepreneurship guidance, building a new generation of African-led solutions from Cape Town to Kigali.
