#LoanFree: CapaCiTi graduate celebrates study loan relief

It’s been a few months since CapaCiTi launched #LoanFree, a bold bid to ease the difficulties faced by graduates in the current job climate.

Under #LoanFree, the Digital Career Accelerator negotiated an agreement with its stakeholders to cancel the contingent loan currently held by its previous cohorts.

All graduates that had paid their loan were reimbursed in full.

One of these graduates, Dwayne Riedel was working as a Data Capturer for about 3 years, all the while trying to study programming on the side.

It was tough and his position saw him working at very strange hours due to it being in the forex industry. He studied when he could but found it difficult to make progress.

At the time, he didn’t have much IT experience and his only foray into the IT world was through the programming videos he would watch along with any additional content he could absorb online.

When he eventually joined CapaCiTi in late 2019, he studied Fundamentals in Python Programme with introductions to HTML, CSS & JavaScript.

“The programme was quite simply life-changing. I learnt so much during my time at CapaCiTi and it set me up perfectly for the real world as it mimics my current work-life so it made the transition so much easier. I loved my colleagues and at the heart of it all is the CapaCiTi employees who are some of the kindest and caring people I have ever met and who push you to be a better version of yourself. How one uses these amazing tools at your disposal is completely up to you,” says Dwayne.

He shares how “amazing” it feels to be reimbursed for the study loan he had paid in full.

“It feels amazing! When the team delivered the news I was so happy and I just thought to myself this is such a CapaCiTi thing they’re doing and it just reinforces all the good things that they stand for. Most importantly I felt grateful.”

#Loanfree has made a difference in Dwayne’s life and has allowed him the opportunity to make himself more marketable.

“I am going to improve my WFH setup because I’d like to appear more professional in front of clients by investing in a new webcam as well as an improved second screen as it is crucial for my work. I’ll also be saving a portion of it and then using a small amount to celebrate.”

The graduate is currently working as a Learning Technologist for Construct Education.

“To the funders, I’d like to say please continue with this great initiative and keep helping so many people like me who just need a chance to succeed.

To the other Alumni, I’d like to say I hope your time at CapaCiTi was a fulfilling one and that wherever you are and whatever you are doing you are flying the CapaCiTi flag high!

Future students, this is the opportunity you’ve been looking for to change your life around. It is up to you to decide how much of a success you would like to become.

And to the CapaCiTi team, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart, you’ve helped me in more ways than you will ever know.”

Do you have a loan with CapaCiTi and are part of the 2018, 2019 and 2020 cohorts? Become #LoanFree today! To qualify for this cancellation, it’s necessary to update your personal information and employment particulars in this form as soon as possible. http://bit.ly/2NrNHit
