Meet The PowerPuff IT Girls
Lethabo Kgwadi, Malebaleng Madimabe, Nolubabalo Maxazana, and Thandokuhle Mandondo, Ardagh Graduate Programme candidates at CAPACITI’s Data Accelerator, participated in the GirlCode Pan African Hackathon. They joined innovators across Africa to develop a technology-driven solution addressing SDG 4: Quality Education.
The AI platform they created provides educational resources and is tackling Africa’s education inequality. Its key features are:

- Multilingual accessibility to bridge language gaps.

International exposure at AfroTech Conference
Their innovative platform not only addressed the digital divide but also emphasised inclusivity, making education accessible to a broader audience. This groundbreaking solution won them first place, securing an invitation to the prestigious AfroTech Conference in Houston, Texas. The AfroTech Conference, held from 13–16 November 2024, is one of the world’s largest events celebrating diversity in technology. During this vibrant gathering, The PowerPuff IT Girls delved into sessions that highlighted groundbreaking innovation, unwavering resilience, and the vital importance of representation in the tech industry.
The PowerPuff IT Girls found inspiration at the Women’s Summit, a highlight of the AfroTech Conference, where influential leaders shared their personal journeys, motivating them to champion equity and inclusivity. Another standout theme at AfroTech was the transformative power of artificial intelligence. Through engaging sessions on AI’s rapid evolution, they explored its revolutionary impact across industries like healthcare and education. These discussions not only expanded their understanding of AI but also ignited their passion for leveraging its potential to drive innovation and meaningful change.
CAPACITI: Driving Inclusive Growth in the Digital Economy
Winning the hackathon and attending AfroTech were transformative milestones in the careers of these talented young women.
